FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from cooperative leaders.

Is my cooperative's money safe?

NaijaCoop does not hold cooperative funds. Payments are collected directly into YOUR Paystack account (or the cooperative's bank account via manual deposits), and NaijaCoop simply keeps accurate records of every transaction. The ledger is tamper-evident and auditable.

How do members pay their savings?

Members pay by card, bank transfer or USSD through Paystack. Deposits are verified automatically (via webhook) and credited to the member's savings instantly. Admins can also record cash or bank deposits manually.

Do we need a Paystack account?

The platform owner needs a Paystack account to enable online payments. If you are using the script for a single cooperative, set your own Paystack keys in the .env file — payments then go straight to your account.

Can members join themselves?

Yes! Share your cooperative's unique join code (e.g. SUNRISE1) or send email invites. New members register themselves and appear for admin approval. You can also enable instant auto-approval.

How do loans work?

Define loan products (amount ranges, interest, tenure). Members apply, admins approve or reject, and on approval a repayment schedule is generated automatically. Repayments can be made online via Paystack or recorded manually.

Can I run this on regular hosting?

Yes. NaijaCoop is a standard Laravel PHP application that runs on any shared hosting with PHP 8.3+ and MySQL — the same type of cPanel hosting WordPress sites use. A full deployment guide is included.

Is there a limit to how many cooperatives I can host?

As a platform owner, no hard limit — you manage all organizations from the Super Admin panel. Individual plans set member limits for each cooperative.

What happens when a member withdraws?

Members request withdrawals with their bank details. The admin approves, pays out (via bank transfer or Paystack transfer), and marks it paid — the member's savings is debited at that point with a full audit trail.
